Live WWE Royal Rumble News & Notes Inside
The biggest pops went to Booker T. It was huge, almost as big as Cena. CM Punk was huge over with the crowd and there were several loud CM Punk chants.
Kevin Nash's entrance got a nice pop but not as big as Booker T or Cena .
The Miz got a nice pop for his win . Even Dolph Ziggler got over many fans as chants started for him vs. Edge, but Edge fans won out by a wide margin.
After Nash was eliminated the ref ran up to him, based on what he did, to wait for Big Show.
Alex Riley seemed to be eliminated in error. Cena and Kofi looked at each other. It look like he slipped. Once he was gone, Charles Robinson and one other ref conferred. So one ran to the back. He came back three minutes later right to Miz, who removed his headphones and was told by two refs what he was to do, almost as panic set in.
Fans loved the whole Punk- Daniel Bryan being able to fight alone and kick around each other thing. Adding in William Regal was great. There were several "ROH" chants for them.
Both Booker and Nash got nice chants after being thrown out. There was also a "Thank you Diesel" chant. Nash raised the fist to acknowledge the chant. Booker also slapped high fives to fans as he left.
Punk getting eliminated was a shock to most and Cena was even bigger. As it got down to final 5, the ref kept looking under the ring to tell Santino when to come out. A lot of fans not happy Hornswoggle was in the ring so long.
The set was cool with big pillars.
At least 10 min after the show was off the air I was in the lobby. Del Rio's announcer was still yelling. Fans loved Lawler as there were tons of " Jerry" chants as he came out.
The place was very quiet and there was zero reaction to Eve winning nobody cared.
Plans for Booker T, Problems with WWE & a Top Star, Divas Plans and More
- Word is that the WWE Divas Title match being changed to a Fatal 4 Way match at the Royal Rumble was planned before last night. T-shirts being sold for the event featured the Fatal 4 Way instead of the Handicap Match originally advertised.
- There is said to be some frustration between WWE officials and Rey Mysterio right now as it relates to him continuing to need time off and lighter scheduling. It’s said that Rey is no longer traveling first class.
WWE realizes Rey won’t be around for many more years and really want to fill that void in the Hispanic market when he leaves. Vince McMahon has pushing John Laurinaitis to find lots of new Hispanic stars, including Alberto Del Rio.
- Dave Meltzer reports that Booker T is under some sort of contract with WWE but Kevin Nash is not. The feeling is that WWE may offer more work based on the reactions at the Royal Rumble last night. Booker T may end up doing anything from announcing to managing and working backstage. A role for Booker T on the return of Tough Enough was also talked about.

WWE Star Not Ready to Return, Stars Replaced at the Rumble, Kane Record, More
- Last night’s 40-Man Royal Rumble match was one of the longest WWE match in history at 70 minutes.
- Michael Cole noted last night that the #40 entrant Kane was entering his 13 straight Royal Rumble match in a row, which is the new record.
- While Evan Bourne was one of the many rumored names for last night’s Royal Rumble main event, the RAW Superstar is not quite ready to return to action yet. Bourne noted on Twitter this weekend that he was still doing physical therapy. Bourne is scheduled to return in time for WrestleMania 27.
- Three WWE stars who were advertised for the Royal Rumble but did not appear were Primo Colon, Darren Young and David Hart Smith. This left 9 slots open – the six before the match and the three left open by them not appearing. These 9 slots were filled by Kevin Nash, Booker T, Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton, Alex Riley, Hornswoggle, Tyler Reks, Chavo Guerrero and The Great Khali, who made his WWE return with Ranjin Singh.

More on WWE’s Major New Signing
- As noted before, Super Luchas is reporting that WWE has signed Mexican star Mistico to a deal finally. Mistico apparently flew to the United States last Tuesday and signed the contract. The EMLL promotion in Mexico had an agreement with Mistico where he would tell them if he was negotiating with WWE and word is that he violated that agreement.
Even if WWE wanted to use the Mistico gimmick, which isn’t usually how they do things, they likely couldn’t as it’s said EMLL owns the rights to the gimmick. Mistico will be heading to WWE developmental in the future to begin training.

Booker T & Diesel Returns To WWE At Royal Rumble
Booker T entered as #21 in the 40-man Royal Rumble match at tonight’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view. The way he was eliminated by Mason Ryan made it seem like he doesn’t have a contract but worked on a per shot deal. We’ll post more information when we get it.
Kevin Nash entered tonight’s 40-man Royal Rumble as Diesel at #32. He was quickly eliminated by Wade Barrett which makes me think, like Booker T, he doesn’t have a contract as of this writing.

Report - Rey Mysterio Injured - WrestleMania Match?
Rey Mysterio is presently working through a rotator cuff injury. The injury occurred during SmackDown!'s most recent overseas tour and company officials have been limiting his in-ring work at television and pay-per-view events, as well as house shows. He's contained in tag matches when he does work non-televised events.
Meanwhile, Mysterio handpicked Cody Rhodes to work his current storyline with. Current plans call for the two to face off at WrestleMania XXVII. Of course, that could change.
Mysterio is said to be hopeful that he can avoid surgery through rehabilitation.

Backstage Update: Kevin Nash-Booker T-WWE Futures
Both Kevin Nash and Booker T are in Boston and scheduled for tonight's Royal Rumble.
Contrary to an earlier report on Booker T being brought to WWE as both a wrestler and an announcer, sources are reporting that his role going forward has yet to be determined, but the belief is that he'll primarily be used as a manager.
Nash is only scheduled for tonight's pay-per-view event but there is talk he'll continue with WWE in a non-wrestling capacity and perhaps a behind the scenes role.
Late-Breaking Royal Rumble & HOF **SPOILER** Inside
-- "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan told fans at an autograph session yesterday in Glenns Falls, New York that he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year.
-- Evan Bourne, who has been sidelined since October due to a torn rotator cuff, is being rumored as a participant for tonight's 40-Man Royal Rumble Match.

More on Papa Shango in Tonight's Rumble, Ex-WWE Writer on Mistico Signing
- According to Alex Riley and Wade Barrett’s Facebook pages, another surprise entrant in tonight’s Royal Rumble match will be Charles Wright (formerly Papa Shango and The Godfather).
- In light of Mistico reportedly signing a deal with WWE, former creative team member Court Bauer took to Twitter to comment.
“Mistico inking with WWE continues the trend of shaking things up – that’s a good thing,” Bauer wrote.
“But and it’s a big but – it’s going to be a tough road for the silver masked sensation. In late 2006, I pushed for WWE to aggressively pursue bringing Mistico’s talents to Stamford. Vince McMahon had mandated more Latin talent on the show (and rightfully so!) and at the time who fit the bill better than the KING of the Arena Mexico BO – Mistico!
“We brought him to our shows and there was a buzz amongst the boys. They knew this guy was legit as did many of us behind the scenes. Unfortunately, there were key people who found ways to ice a deal…
“…Here’s thing about ‘change’ and WWE – if you want to change things, it starts at the core of the operations, not the secondary, etc. For those very same people who 86′d Mistico in ‘06 are still there and are still big time players today and their vision remains the same.
“Will they back Mistico all the way? Will they champion him to WrestleMania 30? Time will tell but one thing is for sure: Given their underperformance, PPV buys, thin roster, etc WWE can’t afford to NOT to change.” To read more from Bauer, visit Twitter.com/courtbauer.

Major Backstage Update: Booker T's WWE Contract
As reported earlier, Booker T has arrived to Boston, Massachusetts for tonight's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. He is expected to participate in the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match. His return to WWE after three years will not be a one night affair.
According to some wrestlers, Booker T is permanently returning to WWE to both wrestle and announce. Additional details, however, have not been disclosed.
The six-time world champion has had his sights set on a commentating position for a number of years. He indicated in an interview last year during Royal Rumble season that if he were to return to WWE, it would likely be as an announcer.
He said, "Going back to the WWE, I know I would have to work a full schedule pretty much 180 days a year. I don't think that's something I want to do at this point. A lot of people speculate, but if I was to go back to the WWE, it would probably be from a wrestling announcer standpoint, that's something I always wanted to do. So I look forward if I ever go back to WWE, it would probably be from a wrestling announcer standpoint. TNA is better for me as far as scheduling goes, but I don't think I'll working that hectic schedule anymore."

Brock Lesnar Persuades UFC To Return To WWE
Contrary to Brock Lesnar's public dismissal last week of the long-standing rumor that he was interested in participating in this year's WrestleMania event, the latest issue of Power Slam reports that according to multiple sources, he did attempt to persuade UFC officials to allow him to work a storyline with World Wrestling Entertainment that would culminate at the annual wrestling supershow.
The proposed deal stems from his mini-confrontation with The Undertaker following UFC 121 on October 23.
According to the magazine, Lesnar had agreed in principle to a three-appearance deal with WWE: he would have appeared on two episodes of Monday Night Raw in the weeks leading up to WrestleMania XXVI, culminating with a final appearance at the April 3 pay-per-view extravaganza in Atlanta, Georgia.
WWE officials are willing to pay Lesnar a seven-figure sum for the three appearances. However, the deal would require approval from UFC because Lesnar is under contract to the mixed martial arts organization.
UFC officials reportedly denied Lesnar's request to return to WWE.

Flair wrestled Williams himself the following night in London, beating the Englishman via submission. Flair bled heavily during the match, so much so that the ring mat was mopped afterwards.
-- In an apparent first, TNA Wrestling officials recently punished two wrestlers for testing positive for a substance banned on the organization's drug testing policy. Though TNA did not acknowledge the situation publicly, the guilty wrestlers were pulled from some house shows as punishment. Both wrestlers have since returned to action and remain on the active roster.

Booker T-Kevin Nash-WWE Updates
-- Like Booker T, Kevin Nash was also scheduled to appear at this weekend's New Orleans Comic Con, but pulled out. TNA Gets Screwed By WWE
-- TNA is really screwed as of right now as they had plans in place for a Main Event Mafia return storyline. There is also a lesson to be learned here as you don't promote a major storyline and then worry about getting the guys for the angle signed to contracts at the last minute. Booker T and Kevin Nash had both been penciled in to be at the Monday TNA iMPACT! tapings to further the "They" storyline. This makes the Monday TV taping interesting as the only former Main Event Mafia member they can now bring in is Sting. They'll obviously need to figure something out this weekend.
-- Tonight's Legends Battle Royal set for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's event at WrestleReunion has been changed to a "Wrestle Royal." They will be doing Royal Rumble style entrances, roughly every 30 seconds. The idea here is likely to give everyone their entrance.

Updated: 2 HUGE Royal Rumble Surprises Leaked
As we just noted moments ago here on the website, Booker T and Kevin Nash are scheduled to appear as surprise entrants for tomorrow night's 40-Man Royal Rumble Match.
As noted earlier, Booker T was expected earlier based on recent talks with organization officials and his scheduled appearance at the New Orleans Comic Con this weekend being canceled. Company sources confirmed this morning that he is set for the 40-Man Royal Rumble Match. He's en-route to Boston, MA as of this writing.
WWE sources have also confirmed that Nash is booked for the Rumble match and is scheduled to fly into Boston later today. He'll arrive at some point this evening. He was in discussions with TNA Wrestling officials as late as yesterday to finalize a contract with the organization, but instead opted to return to World Wrestling Entertainment.
Meanwhile, TNA Wrestling sources have confirmed that discussions with Nash fell through. Both sides had been negotiating on and off with sources indicating at one point that a deal was finalized. An infuriated Nash then accused TNA personnel of leaking the information, which led to new rounds of negotiations which did not go over so well. He admitted last week to a Puerto Rican newspaper that he was in talks with TNA regarding a return to the organization. The aforementioned discussions ended within the past 24 to 48 hours and he wound up agreeing to a deal with WWE. No word on how long the deal is for or if this has to do with the Hall of Fame as of this writing.

Stacy Keibler Is Smokin' Hot In Maxim + Huge WWE Release
-- We noted late last night here on the website that WWE Director and Chief Operating Officer Donna Goldsmith will be leaving those positions, effective February 28th. Just so you know, Goldsmith was the head of WWE Consumer Products for years and that was considered the star division in the company for most of the past decade. She had been the No. 2 person behind Vince McMahon when it came to power in the company. This is obviously a huge parting of ways.

Breaking News: Steve Austin Returning To WWE
Entertainment Weekly is reporting tonight that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will be returning to WWE to host Tough Enough when the reality show returns to the USA Network on April 4th, 2011. The hope is that Austin's starpower will help to deliver ratings.
Here is the article from EW.com:
EW has learned exclusively Tough Enough, the back-from-the-dead WWE reality contest series, has its new host: Stone Cold Steve Austin. The show will premiere April 4, after Monday Night Raw.
Sigh. I was so hoping there’d be some way to get Al Snow back, but I guess I will just have to, er, toughen up. Steve Austin is one of the WWE’s crossover stars — even non-wrestling fans like me are pretty familiar with him, and he obviously has plenty of on-screen experience. What I liked so much about Snow as the mentor, though, was his ability to turn off that in-ring persona and be a strict teacher, a focused father figure, and occasional goofball. I’m hoping Austin has that same knack, and isn’t just Stone Cold Steve Austin TM with his mentees; I hope sometimes he’s just a regular dude.
Does the presence Stone Cold Steve Austin make you more likely to tune in, PopWatchers?

Shane Helms: HBK Tried To Undercut Me & Mr. Kennedy
Monday Night Mayhem with Shane Helms
Hosts: The Big Mosh and "The Chairman of the Board" Todd Vincent
Report by Paterson from N.J.
His reasons for choosing to sign with Lucha Libre USA and not pursuing TNA or Ring of Honor more actively: "I just think it's something different. I never did the Lucha Libre style, and I think I have more to offer those guys. I think it's a challenge for me now. Once I left the WWE, if you count WCW, you're talking about a 12-year TV career. The only time I had off is if I was hurt. I wasn't really sure if I was going to sign another TV contract, because I didn't know if I wanted to. I started working the indies, and working with a lot of talented people, and it kind of lit the fire under me again. There's alot of people in TNA who want me there, and I have lot of friends down there, but Lucha Libre USA came at me with a great offer, so I think I made the right choice."
Why, despite fan reaction, it was not a surprise for him to not join TNA, the importance of standing out on his own, and not going somewhere "because I'm someone's friend": "I had calls from certain people, but I hadn't really decided. Even when the Lucha Libre offer came up, I wasn't sure if I wanted to do anything. I think TNA will always be an option, and it would great to work Matt, Jeff, and Shannon again, but I see those guys all the time anyway. I don't want to go there just because I'm someone's friend. That's never been my deal, and I've always done my own thing anyway. I know it was a surprise to some people, but I think for people who really know me, it wasn't that big of a surprise."
Why he chose to echo his recent sentiments and feelings on Shawn Michaels, the reaction he has received from those within the wrestling community/his fans, and why "there will be more stories like that coming out" Shane's explanation on the comments he made Shawn Michaels: "He tried to undercut me a couple times, and this was supposedly after his 'salvation,' when he's supposed to be such a good guy. He's undercut a lot of people, Ken Kennedy being one, that he really went out his way to bury for absolutely no reason. When you're out there hurting somebody's career and hurting somebody's family, and then you go out on the stage and pray, that just rubs me wrong. I'm not getting anything out of telling the truth. I might have lost some fans just because I told the truth, but I think in the end there will be more people that will eventually, when they into a level of comfort that I'm at now, there will be more stories like that coming out."
More is contained in Shane's exclusive interview with The Monday Night Mayhem Radio Network, including his candid thoughts and comments on if could ever foresee a return to World Wrestling Entertainment, where The Hurricane/Paul Burchill feud was headed on ECW on Syfy prior to his release, what he feels he brings to the table in his new home of Lucha Libre USA, the future of the cruiserweight style of wrestling, being one of the originators of social networking amongst those in the wrestling community, what led him to launch "Highway 2 Helms," plus so much more! WWE Adding More Pay-Per-Views?, SummerSlam Location?
WWE's Senior Vice President of Partner Sales Joe DelGrosso hosted a conference call yesterday where he announced the WWE Diva Search would be returning.
-- DelGrosso also noted that WWE would not be cutting back to 13 pay-per-view events per year as previously rumored. He noted that 13 WWE pay-per-views would be the "minimum" and hinted that they would actually be adding more.
-- WWE is hoping to have SummerSlam take place from Los Angeles, California every single year. They like L.A because it's their second biggest pay-per-view of the year and they have access to lots of celebrities.
-- WWE is still looking for sponsors for WrestleMania 27. The sponsors get a five week period between Feb 28th - April 3rd.
-- 7-Eleven, Slim Jim and Twix are all happy with their WWE advertising campaigns.
-- DelGrosso ended the call with a slideshow which highlighted the Ad Age WWE endorsement.
Update: Ex-WWE Developmental Star Commits Suicide
According to friends of former WWE developmental wrestler Shawn McGrath (a/k/a "Badseed" Shawn Osborne), he committed suicide on Wednesday. We noted this here on the website yesterday. He was 34 years old.
Former WWE talent Stacy Carter (a/k/a Miss Kitty and The Kat) posted a suicide note on her Facebook account claimed to be from McGrath prior to his death.
In the aforementioned message, McGrath explained that recent events in his personal life and his inability to fulfill his WWE dream contributed to his decision to end his life.
"The lack of relationship I have had with my parents and siblings since my childhood along with the end of my WWE dream have also contributed," McGrath wrote.
McGrath claimed he made the decision while sober as he's never been a 'drug guy'.
"The only drug I have in my system is Zoloft and it’s a prescription," he wrote. "I have never, ever been a 'drug guy.' ... All of this happening right now is me, sober. No drugs, no alcohol."
He also detailed how he wanted his funeral to be handled and addressed his closest friends.
A product of Heartland Wrestling Association in Ohio, McGrath signed a developmental contract with WWE in June 2006 after working multiple tryout matches. He made stops in Ohio Valley Wrestling, Deep South Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling before being released from his developmental contract in February 2008. He resumed competing on the independent circuit, most notably for Ring of Honor's sister promotion Full Impact Pro, but had largely been inactive in recent years.

Bret Hart Recalls John Morrison's Apology To Him
Bret Hart revealed to Right After Wrestling that John Morrison once apologized to him backstage for handing out his sunglasses to children before his matches.
"He came up to me, John Morrison did, and he apologized to me, he said he felt bad and made references to stealing my gimmick," Hart said.
"But the fact that he even addressed it was flattering to me. I don't think it's any different than Rey Mysterio giving stuff to the kids. It's gotta keep moving on, and if there's any kind of connection between his giving the sunglasses away and my giving the sunglasses away years ago, between an old fan and a young fan, I think that's beautiful, I have no problem with it at all."

Huge Ric Flair-TNA Update - Talents Pissed Off
Here is the latest on the situation between Ric Flair and TNA.
As previously noted, Flair will be returning to the tour starting with tomorrow's event in Glasgow, Scotland. Some wrestlers rolled their eyes when they heard that he would be returning, but the decision to bring him back to the tour was a financial one. The European shows are sold out events, and with numerous changes having been made, (AJ Styles and Alex Shelley being injured, Kurt Angle returning home for a family emergency) TNA felt it best to get Flair back onto the shows to maintain good relations with the local promoters and the European fans, who kept supporting the company. This is also why Matt Hardy was added to the tour.
Among some of the wrestlers, the decision to bring Flair back will not be popular. Several performers spoke with management over the last 24 hours in an effort to have Flair sent home or even possibly let go from the company. Many performers were harsh in regards to Flair, stating that he had ruined the mood of the tour, which until this happened, was said to be calm and happy. Some are even comparing Flair to Booker T, as Booker fell out of favor with several in the company during the Germany tour last year. This was a factor in his dismissal from the company. Some talents feel sorry for Flair, including the following source…
"The whole thing was stupid but most of us feel more sorry for him than upset. If someone told you everyone is mad, that's a lie. But, there are some pissed because it makes the entire crew look like a**holes and we are certainly tired of his sh**. Flair's asked several of us for money when he's had his credit cards declined. When that happens, the bar tab comes and others get stuck paying for the very drinks he said were on the house in the first place. Everyone loves the "Nature Boy", but when the limousines and party lifestyle is based on bad credit and lies, it suddenly becomes more pathetic than anything else. There is nothing glamorous about a guy who has no concept of money management and then lies to try and get out of it. The fact he has no money should be a lesson every wrestler today should take note on. Don't let this happen to you. If you read the Gorgeous George book that came out and then take an honest look at Ric, you realize, wow, that book is pretty much predicting his future - and that's not a happy ending."
Another source believes that this may have been a good thing, since it may force management to deal with it first-hand and might make TNA a little more leery of continuing to bring in expensive veteran talent when the last year has shown no upside to it based on the current ratings. The source also says that the younger guys in the locker room have united against the veterans, feeling that they do all the work, while the veterans treat the company like a country club. The source had the following to say…
"I respect what the older guys have done, but they aren't making us any money. Nothing reflects that. We would draw the exact same if 99% of them were gone. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take a leap forward and I really think more and more that's where TNA is. Obviously, you need some veteran talents but there's a crew here that wants to build a company and we want to focus on that, not paying someone's bar tab and having to wait for him to fight it out with Craig Jenkins [TNA Management] when he doesn't get his way."

Brock Lesnar Finally Denies WrestleMania XXVII Rumors
In his first interview since losing the UFC Heavyweight Championship to Cain Velasquez last October, Brock Lesnar dispelled the long-standing rumor that he had been interested in participating in this year's WrestleMania event.
"That thing just took on a life of its own," Lesnar told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. "I'm a fighter. There wasn't anything there. I never pursued anything, no."
Lesnar added that he doesn't spend much time online and wasn't initially aware of the abundant rumors.
While Iole made note of his encounter with WWE Superstar The Undertaker at UFC 121 in the article, Lesnar apparently didn't comment on the matter during the interview.

As we noted late last night here on the website, on the same day two weeks ago (January 12) that UFC President Dana White shot down online rumors of Brock Lesnar appearing at WrestleMania XXVII in Atlanta, Georgia, he met with Vince McMahon in New York City. It was largely assumed that McMahon would make a proposition for Lesnar to appear at WrestleMania XXVII. It is said that while their encounter was cordial, nothing changed regarding the former WWE Champion appearing at the annual pay-per-view spectacular.
Of those talked to regarding the matter, no one within WWE believes Lesnar will be allowed to appear at the event.
"I don't think he thought it was as hard as it turned out to be," one company source stated regarding McMahon's attempt to land Lesnar for WrestleMania XXVII.
It was not the first time McMahon and White have met. White said in a June 2008 interview that he had breakfast with the wrestling kingpin weeks prior to the interview. White has always been publicly respectful of McMahon, and one source feels that the UFC President notices similarities between himself and the WWE Chairman as promoters.

"You never know. I will be in Boston -- the show is in Boston -- I'll be up there doing some other events not associated with the WWE so I might stop in but I always bring my gear," he said. "You know, an old-timer you always bring your boots and trunks. You never know when they might throw you in."

Michelle McCool Speaks - Neck Injury, Favorite Gimmick, Early Days
In celebration of her 31st birthday today, Michelle McCool took part in an interview with MichelleMcCool.net. The four-time champion gives her thoughts on possibly moving to RAW via WWE's annual Draft, her previous role as a sultry school teacher, auditioning for the 2004 Diva Search, whether she's worked sick, her goals for 2011, and much more.
Numerous colleagues have praised Michelle for being one of the hardest working women on the roster and often working through injuries. The SmackDown Diva feels bumps and bruises comes with the territory, but notes that she was hampered by bulging discs in her neck in October.
"Other than the normal, I did have two bulging disc in my neck (between C5 & C6). I'm not sure exactly when it occurred or if it just happened as a result of constant wear and tear, but boy did it hurt! It was probably the worst, pain wise, at Hell in a Cell. I remember barely being able to move my neck at all. It was so bad that day (& about 4-5 days after) that I couldn't even bend my head down far enough to scratch my forehead. I was diagnosed the following Tuesday after HIAC when I had an MRI. I took it easy in the ring for a few weeks after. Right now, I've had a sprained pinky finger for 3 weeks. I know that sounds silly, but it's aggravating."
On the topic of "gimmick" matches, McCool admits she's not a fan of Bra and Panties bouts. She says she enjoyed her Extreme Makeover Match with Beth Phoenix at Backlash, but feels nothing will top the Divas Tag Team Tables Match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs.
"It's funny...it seems that no matter what the diva's do, there will be a million people loving it and another million hating it! I've never been a fan of the bra and panties matches... The extreme makeover match was pretty fun, but nothing will top the rush I had during the TLC match. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did! I felt it for several days after, but I loved every bit of it!
"I hope they continue to give the divas more opportunities like that. It was so refreshing to do something so extreme. The crowd loved it too, which is always nice! I actually thought they were ribbing us when they told us that our match would be a table match as well! It took asking about 5 people before I actually believed it."
McCool also gives her take on her short-lived role as the manager of K.C. James and Idol Stevens, collectively known as "The Teacher's Pets." She says that while they got along, there wasn't much chemistry between them.
"I attribute a lot of that to just being new. Sometimes at the beginning of your career, you're just afraid to go for it (for lack of better terms). I think I always held back in fear of screwing something up, versus just going for it and having them have to reel me back in (which is what Layla and I tend to do now)! They were both great guys that I hope are doing well!"
The entire interview can be read at http://michellemccool.net/ Also posted are never-before-seen photos of Michelle growing up, a "speed drawing," videos, and more.

Major Backstage Update - Ric Flair-TNA Problems
As noted earlier today here on the website, an incident took place in Dublin, Ireland with Ric Flair following TNA's house show event in the city where Flair was left behind by the TNA crew.
According to reports, Flair "demanded money in advance" from TNA tour manager Craig Jenkins as they were departing on a bus heading to the airport to take the crew to Berlin, Germany. When Jenkins denied this request by Flair, Flair refused to get on the bus and a decision was made to leave him behind. We are told members of the TNA crew supported this decision and were even mocking Flair for his sudden outburst using "signature promo lines" when he was left behind. Yes, there were actually TNA talents on the bus "WHOOO'ing" as they pulled away.
Some were calling into question Flair's partying ways during the current tour, something he is notorious for and was doing once again this time around. It should be noted that Flair was not sent home by TNA, but simply left behind as a decision was made to move on without him and not hold up the entire crew who were waiting to travel.
Flair is still believed to be in Europe and could catch up with the group with remaining dates in Glasgow, Scotland on January 27, Manchester, England on January 28 and London, England on January 29.

Breaking Update - What Led To The Ric Flair-TNA Incident?
There are a number of stories making the rounds on what exactly led to Ric Flair's temper tantrum on the current overseas tour. All we know right now is that Flair had a verbal altercation with a member of TNA management in Dublin, Ireland. He then refused to fly out to Berlin, Germany.
There are stories making the rounds that the issue was a financial situation but we do NOT have that confirmed as of this writing. A source close to the situation believes that Flair pulled out of the tour due to money and that the issue at hand was TNA not giving Flair an advance pay for the remaining dates on the tour.
TNA management believes Flair is still in Dublin right now.

Breaking News: Ric Flair Airplane Incident - Blowup
According to a source, several sources in TNA have confirmed that Ric Flair missed the TNA event in Germany due to, "Flair refusing to get on the plane to Germany". Those sources have also stated that the reason he did not get on the plane was due to a blow up with a member of TNA management in Dublin, Ireland.
The source went on to say the following…
"He threw a fit. He was playing 'Nature Boy' on the tour and got pissed off and threw a tantrum. As far as we all know, he's in Dublin still. He said he wasn't coming and he wasn't in Berlin."
This is not the first time Flair has been said to have an outburst since signing with TNA, but most of these incidents were after events, and didn't cause a change to scheduled cards. Flair was not advertised to wrestle in Berlin, but he is advertised for the Glasgow, Scotland show on the 27th. For that event, he is scheduled to team with Kazarian against Douglas Williams and Matt Morgan.
When reached for comment, TNA's head of publicity, Steven Godfrey stated the following…
"TNA does not comment on personnel matters."
Developing story.......... more as we get it.

WWE Roster Cuts Soon + WWE Creative Plans Leaked
-- Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas appeared on the Right After Wrestling show recently and talked about the 40-man WWE Royal Rumble this year. Korderas speculated that WWE usually does a battle royal at WrestleMania to give wrestlers a better payday (pay-per-view bonuses). He says that payday may be coming early for some before they are eventually let go. The company almost always does a 'spring cleaning' following WrestleMania where numerous WWE talents are released from the company. The recent stock earnings estimates are also not a good sign.
-- Husky Harris & Michael McGillicutty are expected to receive another shot at the WWE tag-team titles in the near future. It could happen at the Royal Rumble or on RAW next week.
-- WWE's current creative plans call for The Corre-New Nexus feud to continue on well past WrestleMania.

Triple H's WWE Creative Powers + The Royal Rumble Card
-- Triple H was interviewed by Heavy Muscle Radio this morning. In the interview, he noted that he has almost nothing to do with the creative end of the company right now. He said that he is in the office most of the time learning the other aspects of the business and that he is not in writers' meetings during the week. He then went onto mention that he has run TV shows but is involved minimally with creative at this time. He does attend the TV tapings and also said that he is more of a special attraction wrestler right now rather than a full time guy, but also that he is there if they need him.

TNA Gets New UK TV Deal - Details Inside
TNA President Dixie Carter announced that starting in February, all TNA programming (PPV, iMPACT!, Xplosion) will be airing on Challenge TV on Sky, Virgin and Freeview.
The network is sort of the British equivalent of the Game Show Network here in the United States. Word is that there is talk of re-branding the network, with programming specifically aimed at young males.
TNA sources have claimed that the deal puts them in more homes in that market than WWE.
Ex-ECW Star Backstage At RAW - Details
Former WWE and ECW star Nunzio/Little Guido refereed last night's dark match between William Regal and Percy Watson at the RAW taping in Detroit, Michigan. He previously worked in this role at Madison Square Garden show in New York City. He was helping out due to only one referee showing up to the show during the blizzard.
With the company flying him into Michigan, it appears as if WWE liked his work and may be giving him a job as a full time referee. We'll see shortly.

Backstage Head Turning Over Matt & Jeff Hardy
-- TNA Wrestling's creative team were under the impression that there was "nothing to worry about" in regards to Jeff Hardy's current legal matter. That was until last week's court date where the plea deal fell through (for now). Jeff is also the one telling people everything will be fine and there are some who are turning their heads at that for obvious reasons.
-- While Matt Hardy has accused "dirt sheet" reporters of having an agenda for critically panning his TNA Wrestling debut against Rob Van Dam at Genesis, none of his new co-workers have defended the match.
"He's so bloated he can't even move," observed one TNA wrestler.
The wrestler also questioned what Hardy brings to the company at this point. He pointed out that his brother has surpassed him in verbal ability not to mention that he's a better heel.
'Sunny' Denies HOF Rumors + Big Rumored HOF Names
-- Former WWE talent Tammy Sytch (a/k/a Sunny) is denying online reports claiming she will be inducted into this year's WWE Hall of Fame class in Atlanta, Georgia. She will be in the area WrestleMania weekend, but for scheduled appearances for Ring of Honor. She wrote on her Facebook account: "FOR THE RECORD: (yes, websites may copy this): I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY ANYONE IN THE WWE ABOUT ANY UPCOMING APPEARANCES FOR WRESTLEMANIA WEEKEND.. I AM BOOKED TO APPEAR ON THE ROH SHOWS IN ATLANTA, AND THAT IS ALL. Please do ont fill my facebook wall with rumors....thanks."

Armstrong is the patriarch of the Armstrong wrestling family; he has four sons (Scott, Brad, Steve and Brian), all of whom became wrestlers.

Skip Sheffield's WWE Return?
-- WWE officials are hopeful that Skip Sheffield will be healthy enough to return to action by the post-WrestleMania television tapings. He has been sidelined since August due to a compound fracture of his ankle. As of this writing, they've got big plans for him but as always things can change in the blink of an eye.

Edge To Retire?, + 4 Other WWE Talents Leaving?
We've noted several times in the past year that a WWE main eventer plans on leaving the organization once his current contract expires. The wrestler in question is Edge, who's deal runs out next year.
Word is that Edge isn't enjoying being on the road so much, and that he has told friends that he could use a break after all of the years, injuries and rehabbing those injuries.
With that being said, there is no confirmation that he will retire. Many wrestlers that have made good money discuss retiring at the end of their next contract, and either sign a new deal, or take a retirement that turns out to be a break.
It should also be noted that four other wrestlers are looking to leave WWE when their contracts expire.
Michael Tarver Returns To WWE - Details Inside

On the October 4th episode of RAW, Tarver was attacked by John Cena, with Wade Barrett later stating that he would have thrown Tarver out of The Nexus anyway. This storyline was put in place due to Tarver sustaining a groin injury.

Bret Hart: I'd Induct HBK In The WWE Hall Of Fame
Bret Hart was recently on The Law Sunday Night, here are the highlights…
Would He Induct HBK Into The WWE Hall Of Fame?: I wouldn't have any problem inducting Shawn, the truth is Shawn was a great wrestler and I had a lot of great matches with him. The Ironman match I had with Shawn was as good a match as wrestling has ever had. I'm proud of some of the great memories I had with Shawn and I'd be happy to induct him into the Hall of Fame if they asked me.
On His WWE Status: Right now it's totally in limbo. I'm not expecting to be a part of WrestleMania but then I could get a call tomorrow asking me to play some sort of part. I'd be happy to be a part of WrestleMania or even something that comes up in the next few months. I've had a lot of fun this last year and thinking back to winning the U.S. Title here (in Toronto) back in May. It's a happy little memory, I had a great night here in Toronto and I was glad that I got to bring that moment back to Toronto where I had some of my most loyal fans here in Toronto.
For what it's worth, I'd guess Triple H will be the one to induct Shawn but we'll have to wait and see.

Jim Ross Blogs: Announcing The Royal Rumble, Swagger
Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry, ere are the highlights…
On Old WCW PPV Themes: Emailer...Why doesn't WWE utilize old, WCW themed PPV's? I assume just to be more original or contemporary. The titles of the PPV's seem to be being tweaked all the time but no matter the name of the event it is still and always will be the 'attraction' that sells PPV's not the title of the event. I do expect to see ALL the WCW PPV's and Clash of Champions events utilized when WWE launches their own network down the road. You might even see some of them monetized via DVD releases at some point in time.
On WWE Superstars: Someone suggested that WWE Superstars be utilized to feature WWE's younger talents. I thought that was usually the case. The talents who don't get much time on Raw or Smackdown often time end up on WGN America's Superstars broadcast. These are the times when talents really need to elevate their game, maximize their minutes and not look at wrestling on Superstars as be exiled or some form of 'punishment.' These are the moments that game day players go out and turn heads and make positive impressions. It's like playing on special teams for a NFL team or being the 8th or 9th man on a NBA roster...always maximize one's minutes and opportunities.
On Broadcasting The Royal Rumble: Emailer...there is zero chance at this time that I will be broadcasting the Royal Rumble match this year and that matter has never been discussed for the record. As a matter of fact, I'm going to watch the Rumble at home as I'm not traveling to Boston later this month. I'll spend my PPV bucks on the Royal Rumble just like many fans.
On Managing Jack Swagger: Emailer...I have less than ZERO interest in becoming former Sooner Jack Swaggers ringside manager. I'm not looking to travel full time nor do I know if WWE wants Swagger to even have a manager. I'm not sure if Swagger needs a manager but if it's the proper person then Swagger would seemingly standout that much more. Swagger needs to simply be more Lesnar and Angle-like and commence to imposing his physical will on all that he competes with in a WWE ring. Perhaps he's too nice and needs to become more of a nasty SOB.

McMahon High On Sheffield, Original Nexus Plans Rejected, Usos
John Piermarini, a recent former writer with WWE, recently started a blog (http://www.wrestlingrecall.blogspot.com/) recalling numerous behind the scenes stories that occurred during his two year stint with the organization. Highlights include:
* Piermarini says the original concept of the Uso brothers was to present them as the opposite of the stereotypical Samoan wrestler—educated, intelligent and wear boots. "Usos would essentially have been the Russell Simmons of the WWE. That preppy hip-hop style," he says. Piermarini attributes their lackluster push in the organization to Vince McMahon not understanding hip-hop culture, and thus couldn't comprehend the appeal of the brothers Uso. He also says they fell victim to bad timing due to The Nexus debuting shortly after them.
* Vince McMahon views Skip Sheffield as a potential number two babyface, behind John Cena. He remains sidelined after suffering a compound fracture of his ankle in August. Expect a major push when he returns but as always, things can change. Sheffield has always reminded me and others within WWE as a young 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. He's definitely got mic skills as well.
* Piermarini says he originally proposed that Mason Ryan fill Sheffield's powerhouse role in The Nexus shortly after "The Cornfed Meathead" fractured his ankle. Vince McMahon, however, rejected the idea at the time.

Ex-WWE Writer: McCool's Position & Relationship w/ 'Taker
Many have attributed Michelle McCool's high-ranking status in World Wrestling Entertainment to her real-life relationship with The Undertaker. The two, who are now married, became a couple in late 2007 and she has been arguably the most spotlighted — and criticized — female competitor in the organization ever since. McCool herself is well aware of her critics as she frequently brushes them off on her Twitter account.
John Piermarini, a former writer with WWE, recently started a blog (http://www.wrestlingrecall.blogspot.com/) recalling numerous behind the scenes stories which occurred during his two year stint with the organization. He reveals that he was the exclusive writer of Lay-Cool and adamantly denies McCool receiving preferential treatment due to her relationship with The Undertaker.
Piermarini wrote, "Vince McMahon appointed me the exclusive writer for LayCool. Not because she got that special privilege but because we asked for it. Let me take this time to say Michelle McCool gets zero favors because she is married to Undertaker. Michelle McCool accomplished everything she got because she was the best.
"If you need to blame someone you need to blame me because I was the one who would push hard for anything Michelle got on TV. Michelle could wrestle and Michelle could talk, a lot of MALE Superstars can't do that and Michelle would have been successful with or without Undertaker. There were a lot of people who wanted to see Michelle fail and she fought that the entire time I was there."

Report: Randy Orton & Edge Possibly Reuniting
WWE creative has discussed reuniting Randy Orton and Edge as a tandem.
The duo is scheduled for a dark match at this Tuesday's SmackDown! taping in Cincinnati, Ohio against WWE Champion The Miz and Dolph Ziggler.
Orton and Edge formed an alliance known as Rated-RKO in October 2006 to challenge the team of Triple H and Shawn Michaels. The group captured the World Tag Team Championship in November 2006 and officially disbanded in May 2007, after Edge moved to the SmackDown! brand.
Triple H News: The Name Of His Third Daughter, ESPN-NFL Talk
-- Triple H revealed during a recent interview with RXMuscle.com that his and Stephanie's third daughter's name is Vaughn Evelyn. She was born in late August. Their other children's' names are Aurora Rose (born in 2006) and Murphy Claire (born in 2008).
-- Triple H appeared today on ESPN's NFL Countdown to talk about Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers, who makes a belt motion around his waist during on-field celebrations.
-- DirecTV is still advertising the Royal Rumble as a 30-Man Match in their commercial promoting the event. The commercial also has Randy Orton and Edge boasting about winning the match. Both Superstars have not been announced for the battle royal.

X-Pac Recalls Suicide Attempt, Bashes TNA, Nexus
Former WWE talent Sean Waltman (a/k/a X-Pac) discussed reaching rock bottom when he attempted to commit suicide in his hotel apartment in Mexico City.
"I was in Mexico for three years. When I was there, things got really bad," Waltman recalled to the Miami Herald.
"I got in a heated argument that turned into physicality with my girlfriend [Alicia Webb]. I ended up striking her back. I always told myself that I would die before I would hit a woman. So when I did that, I was overcome with guilt and shame. I had no tools to handle it. The only thing I could think of was take a whole bottle of Valium or what was left of the bottle. It was probably around 400 milligrams of Valium.
"I hung myself from the roof of my apartment. It was the darkest moment of my life, or one of them, to get me to do that. It was a lot of build up that I didn’t know how to deal with."
Webb, known to wrestling fans as Ryan Shamrock during her time in WWE in 1999, found him.
"I was dead," said Waltman.
"She got me down, which I don't know how she did it. She is like superwoman. I swear. She did CPR and all that. She kept me alive for 45 minutes until the ambulance arrived. Then I was really on life support for three days."
Kevin Nash was there by his side the next day and helped check him into The Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas, a leading psychiatric hospital. He stayed there for four months, where he conducted some much needed soul searching.
Waltman also discussed his last stint with TNA Wrestling, noting that the main reason he is no longer with the company is because he contracted Hepatitis C. Certain athletic commissions prohibit him from wrestling. He said he would return to the organization, but strictly for a paycheck.
"Then try to last as long as I could before I go %$#$ing crazy because their writing sucks so bad," Waltman said.
"I was on my show, and somebody was talking about it. I told them they dip their pen in $%^& before they write their shows. I have a relationship that is deeper than wrestling in WWE. Honestly, TNA it would strictly be for the paycheck. I really don't feel any emotional equity with those people at this point."
The outspoken wrestler feels that for the organization to succeed, they need to get rid of Vince Russo as a writer.
"I like Vince Russo the person. I love him as a human being. Supposedly to my face, he likes me, too, but they don't want me there because I'm always saying something sucks when it's the #$%^. They would rather bury their head in the sand than do something correct or listen to somebody else's input. Everyone is so defensive there. To me, I don't care whose idea it is. If it's a good idea, then lets do it. I don't care who gets credit for it..."
The former member of the New World Order and D-Generation X also gave his take on WWE's The Nexus faction. He feels the group is more similar to the nWo than DX.
"There would be no DX, if it wasn't for the nWo, in my opinion. It closely resembles the nWo stuff with the mob mentality and the simple looking logo on the shirt. It's kind of like let’s make it look less like nWo while copying it completely.
"I like Wade Barrett a lot. I think he has tons of potential. Just to put a guy like that, who is unproven or have any emotional equity with the fans as heel or babyface, it's hard. It was an effective angle, and they are still getting mileage from it.
"They had to resort to that as a result of having a shallow roster. The people bought into it to a certain extent, but there was never a revelation that was a bigger mastermind until the CM Punk thing. That's better to me, and I see it going in a different direction. I'm not sure if I like it much with all the initiation stuff and guys getting beaten up in the ring. I never liked that. In real life, especially in a street gang, who would do that? Nobody.
"I hated it in the nWo. They only did it in WWE really. They didn't really do it much when we were in WCW. We didn't beat our own guys up. It's retarded. Sorry. Now they have this Mason Ryan guy. I hated that. That's the writers."
